Encapsulated Autotransformer
Encapsulated Autotransformers provide an efficient and economical solution for voltage conversion in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. Unlike standard autotransformers, these units feature windings that are completely encapsulated in a durable epoxy resin, offering enhanced protection against environmental factors such as dust, moisture, and corrosive gasses. This makes them ideal for use in harsh or demanding settings where durability and reliability are paramount.
Encapsulated autotransformers are particularly useful in applications with motor loads, industrial machinery, electric heating systems, and air conditioning units. By sharing part of the winding between the primary and secondary circuits, they achieve efficient voltage conversion. However, due to the lack of isolation between circuits, they may not be suitable for all power systems, particularly where isolation is required or if there is no grounded neutral on the secondary side of the upstream transformer.
